Our Biography
The Beija-flor String Quartet was founded in 2015 by four students who love the art of chamber music and have an unwavering desire of sharing their personal dialogues with their listeners.
The group had their first lessons with Leonhard Roczek (Minetti Quartet) and in 2024, began a Master of Chamber Music at the Mozarteum University under Prof. Cibrán Sierra-Vázquez (Cuarteto Quiroga) while welcoming two new members as the quartets middle voices (Tobias Aan and Samuel Poblete), and we are more excited than ever to develop our ensemble into the future.
The quartet won first prize in the Gianni Bergamo Classic Music Award 2022, and have participated in festivals such as Académia Internacional Quartet (Spain), Festival Jeux de Chaises (Canada), Zeister Muziekdagen (Netherlands), Guadix Clásica (Spain) and the Budapest Festival Academy (Hungary), and in several concert series, to name a few, Musiktage Hundsmarktmühle (Austria) and “schräg/strich” with Oorkaan at the 2021 Salzburger Festspiele. They have worked with internationally renowned artists as Ferenc Rados, Cuarteto Casals, Isabel Charisius, Mark Steinberg, Quartetto di Cremona, Alexander Pavlovsky, Marcin Sieniawski, and have performed with William Coleman, Cornelia Herrmann, Mate Bekavac and Sergey Malov.
